Introducing our new monthly Newsletter

Hello,

I am David Grainger, president of the Guild and I would like to welcome you to the Guild’s first news letter.

I have always been a little resistant to offering an online newsletter because I have felt that we are all constantly bombarded by unwanted material online. I didn’t want the Guild to add to the load of junk mail that we all find ourselves deleting each morning.

Conversations with clients, club members and the general public at large have gradually changed my mind. It seems that there is a real interest and fascination with the work that the Guild does in restoring antique and classic cars. I suppose my first clue should have been the millions of visitors to the Guild’s website. While the site has garnered much praise over the years and continues to be at the top of its rankings it is not always as current as it should be.

This newsletter will strive to correct that.

In it you will find news about new projects that are just arriving, bulletins concerning ongoing projects, restoration tips and photographs of significant cars that we are working on or have worked on along with the stories behind them.

I hope that you enjoy what we have to offer and find the work that the Guild’s craftsmen do as exciting and fascinating as I do.

Cheers,
David Grainger for
The Guild

Featured Project - 1935 Bugatti Aerolithe

1935 Bugatti Aerolithe

The Aerolithe project uses chassis 57104, the earliest known Type 57 chassis, with matching transmission and rear end. The body will be completed in-house and will be built to exact standards and patterns of the original. The craftsmen of the Guild are creating the body using magnesium which is one of the lightest metals but poses many problems including combustibility.

The Aerolithe is currently undergoing final engine inspection and testing. The wiring harness has been installed. Final mockups of the leather interior are being completed.
